About the event
Just south of Shëngjin, separated from the Adriatic Sea by a narrow strip of golden sand dunes, lies one of northern Albania's most extraordinary natural treasures: the Kune-Vain-Tale Nature Reserve. Covering approximately 43 square kilometers and designated as a protected area under Albanian environmental law, this coastal lagoon and wetland complex is one of the most important bird habitats on the entire western side of the Adriatic flyway — the migration route followed by hundreds of millions of birds each year between Africa and Northern Europe.
Your boat tour departs from the reserve's access point (a short drive south of Shëngjin center) aboard a small, quiet wooden boat piloted by a local boatman with deep knowledge of the lagoon's seasonal rhythms. The tour begins on the calm, shallow inner waters of the Kune Lagoon, where the water is warm, salt-tinged, and filtered to extraordinary clarity by the surrounding reed beds.
